On December 1st, 2009 at 0546hrs station 26 along with other neighboring companies was notified to a working fire at 1308 Feret Road in Townsend Village II. The dispatch requested apparatus from Odessa (4/24), Volunteer Hose (1/27), Clayton (45) and other departments such as New Castle County EMS, NCCPD and the State Fire Marshal Office. Fire and smoke were reported visible on the initial dispatch and was confirmed upon arrival of Rescue 26, seeing smoke from the 2nd floor. Two 1 3/4" lines were placed in service attacking the fire in the basement. During the initial attack there was a partial collapse inside the interior and an evacuation was requested due to damage to the main beam in the basement. Two additional 1 3/4" lines were placed in service before the fire was placed under control at 0650hrs. Cover up units covered stations 26, 27, and 24. Delaware City (station 15), Wilmington Manor (station 32), and Port Penn (station 29) covered the local area while units operated at the scene. Scene was turned over the DSFM and all units cleared by 0830hrs.
